Draw your rooms and show how you set them up

Draw the rooms at each location and every arrangement in them, with tables, bar and dimensions. Pick per order which arrangement applies when, send the floorplan with the order overview and show it with a package in your widget.

Introduction

A room looks different for a dinner than for a reception. With floorplans you draw, per location, the rooms you have and each arrangement you set up in them: round tables for a dinner, high tables and a lounge for drinks. Catermonkey counts the seats and keeps the room's dimensions. On each order you pick which arrangements are used and in what sequence, and those floorplans go out with the order overview for your team. Visitors to your website see them with a package in your widget.

Floorplans are available on every plan.

Where to find it

Go to Locations, open a location and choose Floorplans on the left. There, click Open floor plan editor.

Step 1: Create a zone for each room or area

A zone is an area at the location: the main hall, the terrace, the conservatory. In the floor plan editor, click + next to Zone, type a name and press Enter.

Then fill in the room's Dimensions under Room, in metres or feet, and choose a Floor, such as wood or tiles. If you have a drawing or photo of the room, put it underneath the plan with Background.

Step 2: Draw the arrangement

Click a table or another object in Add objects to place it in the room. There are round, square and rectangular tables for 2 to 8 people, plus walls, doors, a bar, plants, pillars, rugs, stairs and text labels.

  • Move an object by dragging it. It snaps to the grid.

  • Resize it with the corner handles and rotate it with the round handle above it.

  • Under Properties you change the Table number, the number of Seats and the Shape.

Next to Max. seats you see how many seats you have placed. If the room holds more or fewer people than the seats suggest, for a standing reception for example, enter the maximum yourself.

Click Save changes when you are done. Undo and Redo also work with Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y (Cmd on a Mac).

Step 3: Create a variant for each arrangement

Variants lists the arrangements of this room. Click + to copy the current arrangement, then adjust the copy, from a dinner to a reception for example. Use … to rename a variant or delete it.

Each variant has its own tables, objects and maximum number of people. The room and its dimensions are the same for every variant.

Step 4: Pick the arrangements an order uses

Open the order. In the Location card, Floorplans sits below the address. Click it to unfold it.

  • Pick an arrangement on each line and note when it applies, for example 15:00 or evening.

  • Add floorplan adds a line. Use the arrows to put them in the sequence of the day.

  • The button with the floorplan icon unfolds the drawing, with the number of people and the dimensions below it.

  • Click Save changes to keep your choice.

Floorplans appear here when the order's location, or one of its extra locations, has a drawn arrangement.

Step 5: Send the floorplan with the order overview

In the order or in the Agenda, click Lists and overviews and choose the Order overview tile. Under Order details, tick Show location floorplan.

  • Download order overview (PDF) adds a Floorplans chapter at the end, with each arrangement as a drawing and a line with the time, the number of people and the dimensions.

  • Generate, share and open overview in a new screen shows a button per arrangement at the location that unfolds the drawing.

If no arrangements were picked on the order, the overview includes every floorplan of the location.

Step 6: Show the floorplan with a package in your widget

If you rent out a room or sell a package at your own venue, visitors to your website can look at the floorplan.

  1. On the location, under General, tick Own location and save.

  2. Go to Website widgets, open the widget and click Widget settings on the product.

  3. Unfold More options and, at Do you want to link this package to a specific location, such as a venue?, choose the location.

  4. Save the widget.

When a visitor opens that product, the floorplans follow the photos in its images. Below the description there is a line per arrangement with the room, the number of guests and the dimensions. Clicking it shows the drawing.

Frequently asked questions

What does a visitor to my website see?

The drawing of each arrangement, with the name of the room and the arrangement, the number of guests and the dimensions. Visitors do not pick an arrangement in the widget; you do that on the order.

I drew an arrangement, but it does not show on the order.

Check that the order has this location, as its main location or as an extra location. A variant without tables or other objects is not shown.

What happens to an order if I change the floorplan later?

The order points to the arrangement, not to a copy of it. When you change the drawing, the order and every overview you make after that show the new version. A PDF you downloaded earlier stays as it was.

Can I rename or delete a zone?

Variants can be renamed and deleted with the … button. Renaming or deleting a zone is not available in the editor yet; contact us if you need it.

What happens when I delete a variant?

Tables that are only in that variant are deleted. Tables that are also in another variant of the room stay.

How are people counted?

Catermonkey adds up the seats of every table in the variant. If you enter a number at Max. seats, that number applies, in the editor, on the order, in the overview and in the widget.
