Peppol makes e-invoicing faster and more efficient. Soon, you will be able to send Peppol invoices directly from Catermonkey, without any extra steps. Or export the invoice to your accounting software and send it from there. Incoming invoices and responses to sent invoices will continue to run through your accounting software, as each company can only have one Peppol Access Point.

What is Peppol?

Peppol is an international network that allows companies and governments to exchange secure and standardised e-invoices. Invoices are processed directly without email or PDF.

To send or receive Peppol invoices, you need a Peppol Access Point. Catermonkey will become a Sending Point, which means you can send invoices directly, but incoming responses will not be processed in Catermonkey.

What will change?

Until now, you first had to export Peppol invoices to your accounting software in order to send them. Soon, you will be able to choose:

✅ Send invoices via Peppol directly from Catermonkey.
✅ Export invoices to your accounting software and send them from there.
🛑 Receive invoices and responses to sent invoices will continue to run through your accounting software.

How does it work?

Create the invoice in Catermonkey.
Choose how you want to send it:
- Directly from Catermonkey without PEPPOL
- Directly via PEPPOL from Catermonkey
- Export to your accounting software and send from there, with or without PEPPOL.

Send invoices directly via PEPPOL from Catermonkey

1. Click on the "Send via Peppol" button:

2. If the company is not immediately found by name, ensure that the VAT number and Chamber of Commerce number are entered. Companies are often registered with Peppol under these numbers.

3. Once the company has been found, click on "Select" next to the relevant company.

4. Check the details and click on "Send":

What about responses to Peppol invoices?

Responses to Peppol invoices (such as confirmation of receipt or error messages) are sent to your Peppol Access Point, not to Catermonkey. Therefore, consult with your provider to determine how to follow up on these.

Pay attention to your invoice numbers!

Correctly tracking invoice numbers is crucial to avoid tax issues. Please note the following:

The Netherlands: It is permitted to use different invoice number series, for example one for Catermonkey and one for your accounting software.
Belgium: Here, all invoice numbers must be sequential and unique. If you send invoices partly via Catermonkey and partly via your accounting software, you must ensure that the numbering remains correct.

To avoid this, we recommend managing all invoices in one place – either in Catermonkey or in your accounting software.
