This article explains the basics of creating a widget.
Would you like more information about this or to brainstorm with one of us about how to best fill in your widget?
Where can you find the widgets?
If you already have a King Of The Online Jungle subscription, you will find the Website Widgets option in your menu. Haven't upgraded yet? Then you will find it here: boost your sales.
Creating a widget
Click on + Add new widget in the top right corner of the screen.
You can then choose what kind of widget you want to create:
Contact form: This is a contact form. Here, customers can fill in their details and choose a date. When they send the request, you will receive an empty order in your Catermonkey with all the details, so you no longer have to fill it in yourself.
Smart contact form: This is a smart contact form, also known as a "concept request". With a smart contact form, you can add a number of concepts (e.g. wedding, garden party, barbecue...). When the customer chooses a concept and fills in all their details, you, as a caterer, can send them a suitable quote with, for example, your favourite wedding party.
Quotation indicator: This is a request tool. Customers can put together their own party and immediately receive a price indication. You will receive this directly after sending as a completed request in Catermonkey. You can then send the quotation quickly!
The way you set up a widget determines how you use it. This allows you to use widgets very flexibly as contact forms, various request tools, or webshops.
Renaming and duplicating a widget
In the Website Widgets overview, click on the pencil icon to change the name of the widget in your overview.
Then click on the green tick to save the name.
You can easily duplicate a widget by clicking on the green Duplicate button.
Filling in a widget
To get started
Each widget requires a contact form in which customers can enter their details. You can add this by clicking on + Contact form .
Adding a new step
To add a new step, click on + Add product step.
Fill in a step
Title, introduction and closing text
Start by giving the step a title. Then fill in the introduction text to give the customer more information.
The closing text appears at the bottom of the widget step.
Price display, minimum quantities, date settings
Show 'number of people' field: Let your customer fill in the number of people. The selected products will always be added with that number.
Hide prices?: Do you want the customer not to see prices in this step? Then you can hide the prices. Useful for a non-binding request without price indication
Show event date field / Show 'end event date field': For each step, you can indicate whether you want the customer to enter the date.
Show prices incl. VAT / Show prices excl. VAT: Show prices including or excluding VAT. Useful if you create different widgets for business or private customers.
Show 'Quantity' field for product: The customer can enter a quantity for a product themselves, rather than this being based on the number of people.
Min. number to choose / Max. number to choose: Refers to the number of choices the customer can make within a step. Can the customer only choose 1 of the 3 product choices? Then enter a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 1.
PLEASE NOTE: The Show 'number of persons' field & Show 'Quantity' field for product do NOT work together .
Products that visitors can choose
Under Add product, you can easily search for a product or package from your Catermonkey range. By clicking on it, you add the product to the step.
Saving a step (changes)
Once you have completed or modified a step, you must click on 'Save changes' in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
Only then will the changes be implemented. If a widget is already on your website, it will automatically change with the changes you save in Catermonkey.
The contact form
This is always the last step, in which the customer fills in their personal details. You can decide which fields need to be filled in.
The date of the event,, email address and surname of the customer are always mandatory fields in order to register the request/order in Catermonkey.
Add field to form: You can add extra fields to the contact form by clicking Select to add . For each field, you can tick whether it is a mandatory field or not.
Tip: You can use the 'Assignment - free field' field to request additional information from the customer for which there is no input field in Catermonkey. This information will appear with the question or title you have given to the input field under 'Customer comment' in the assignment (Calendar).
Set what happens when the request comes in
You can set this in the last step: the contact form.
Select confirmation of receipt template: The customer will receivethis email immediately/automatically after the request or order has been completed in the widget. You can create an email template for this under Settings > Quote, Email and Brands > Email templates. Read here how to create an email template:
Returning customers can log in: This setting is useful when you have created a specific widget for a customer that is only accessible with a login. Think of a widget with a company package. You can read how to set this up correctly here: https://help.catermonkey.com/nl/articles/9471448-login-gegevens-toevoegen-aan-een-widget.
Widget Preview
The widget preview shows you what the widget will look like on your website. Here you can also set the colours, angles and shadows of the widget. This is the same for the entire widget (every step).
Once the widget is linked, it will of course look even better and match the styling of your website.
Colour 1 = The colour of the main text
Colour 2 = The colour of the text in the buttons
Background colour 1 = The colour of the widget
Background colour 2 = The colour of the buttons in the widget
Settings for this widget
Once you have completed and filled in all your steps, there are a few final settings you can configure in the widget.
Description of your company
Website settings
The address bar is the URL of the website page where the widget will ultimately be placed. You will always need to activate the widget in Catermonkey before it becomes visible on your website.
Show titles for the buttons for the steps: By default , numbers are used as step titles. However, you could also use 'reception', 'food' or 'dessert'. You can do this by ticking the setting ''. You can then use the pencil icon '' to change the step title for the steps your customers have to go through.
Hide numbers for the steps: This setting also hides the numbers for the steps (1. reception, 2. food, etc.).
Order deadline, delivery times, closed periods
Minimum days in advance to place orders: The minimum number of days in advance that a customer can place a request or order.
Open times between: This is a setting to open times for the start time of a request/order. HH is the hour, MM is the minutes. The top line is the first time, the bottom line is the second time. Below that, you can choose whether this is visible every hour, every half hour, or every quarter hour within the open times.
Time until customers can order/request: Works in conjunction with min. days in advance for requests/orders and indicates the time until customers can order/request on the last day.
Blocked dates on which customers cannot order/request: If you are going on holiday, a day is already fully booked, or you only want to keep a few dates available in the widget, you can block dates in the widget here.
Delivery costs (for deliveries)
You can add fixed delivery costs in the widget. To do this, first create a non-food product delivery cost in the Assortment, then link it in the widget under Product delivery costs.
Marking the delivery area using postcodes ensures that customers outside your delivery area cannot place orders.
Payment methods and discount codes
If you use the widget as a Request Tool, do not tick anything here. This allows customers to make a request via the widget without paying in advance.
To allow customers to order and pay immediately (as a webshop idea), you can tick the Ideal/Bancontact payments via the Mollie link. For the Mollie link, you need an account with Mollie and you must first link it to your Catermonkey account (Links & Integrations).
Request/order overview (shopping basket)
This is a kind of shopping basket in which the customer can view what has been added to the request or order. You can customise the text of this overview and the text of the button here:
Text on the button in the overview to complete the order/request: The default text here is 'Complete request'. You can change this to 'Complete order' or 'Complete reservation', for example.
Title in request/order overview: The default text here is 'My party'. You can change this to 'My order' or 'My price estimate', for example.
Nowadays, customers want a price indication as quickly as possible! With the widgets, you can do this easily and quickly.
If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Kind regards,
The Catermonkey team 🍌
