By linking materials to specific products or grouping them into packs, you reduce the chance of anything being forgotten. In this article, we explain how to link materials so that they are automatically included in your materials list.

You can link a material directly to a food or non-food product in the product range. For example, you might link a soup bowl to the dish ‘tomato soup’, or a gas cylinder to the material ‘gas BBQ’. You do this as follows:

1. Open the product in the Product Range to which you want to link a material

2. Scroll down to ‘Link materials’:

3. Here, under ‘Search for material’, add a non-food product from your product range (click on it). Then save your changes.

Tip!

If you do not yet have any (non-food) materials in Catermonkey, you can also import them all at once. To do this, click on ‘Import materials’ and type the material you wish to import on each line.

Click on ‘Import materials’ and save your changes.
​

You can also add ingredients to an existing set (menu).
​

1. Open the package in the Product Range to which you wish to add an item.

2. Click on ‘Products’ in this package.

3. Add a title, for example ‘Materials’, and press Enter.

4. Below this, add the materials that belong to the package.

To ensure the materials do not appear on the customer’s quotation, click the eye icon next to each material to hide it:

5. Save the changes.

You can also lock the quantity of a material. You do this using the padlock icon next to the quantity (this appears when you hover your mouse over it).
​

This means that large items, such as an oven or BBQ, will only appear once on the materials list. If the padlock is not used, the quantity of these items will be multiplied by the number specified in the order or quotation, just as with a package.
​

If you do not want certain materials (non-food products) to appear on the list (such as staff costs, transport costs, etc.), you can hide them from the list by ticking the box ‘Do not show this product on material lists’.
​

Please note! This tick box is only displayed if the product type is ‘non-food’.
